The Flowing Waters of Lake Jefferson

Saturday Sept 26, 2009: See Live Music This Fall

Welcome to the member-funded, hydro-powered, volunteer-run studios of WJFF.   Folk Plus is a mostly lyrically and theme based show of contemporary singer-songwriters, some older cuts and perhaps a spoken word or broadway entry, all based on a theme. Thanks to staff and station management for accommodating my health issues and maintaining a chemical and fragrance free environment. Complying with these accommodations allow me to continue to volunteer Saturday mornings
The station's website and stream are online at WWW.WJFFRADIO.ORG

The theme today is going out this fall to hear live music. We've had clubs close in the past few years. Years ago we lost the Band Box, a club ran by our own Maureen Neville. The Night Eagle in Binghamton had to close this year. And after 25 years of presenting live music, tonight is the final night for Bodles in Chester NY. due to reduced crowds and financially hard time.  So, what can we see for live music this fall to support clubs and folks who play right in front of us - live? Here are some highlights.

Today at 3pm at the Callicoon Center Bandshell

1. Callicoon band - Hallelujah - brass ensemble - http://www.jeffersonvilleny.com/jeffersonville_history_callicoon_center_band.html
The Callicoon Center band has played wednesday evenings in the summer at the Calliccon Center Bandshell since the 1930's. This afternoon they will be playing at 3 pm, as a benefit for one of their own memebers who has no health insurance and is battling cancer.
